After the Recovery: What Are Your Options?

Once your vehicle has been recovered and is sitting at our premises in Newport, you have several options for what happens next. At TRD Moters, we discuss these options with every customer when they call 07721 551617, but we also want to explain them here so you know what to expect.

The first option is repair. If your vehicle has broken down but is fundamentally sound, you may want to have it repaired and returned to the road. We can assess the vehicle at Unit 15, Lilleshall Grange, Newport TF10 9HL and provide an honest opinion on whether repair is worthwhile. Some breakdowns are simple fixes, such as a faulty alternator, a dead battery, or a starter motor issue. If we can source a used part from our inventory, we may be able to get you back on the road at a reasonable cost.

The second option is to sell the vehicle to us for parts. If the repair cost is too high, or if the vehicle has extensive damage, we may be able to offer you a price for it. We buy vehicles in any condition, from non-runners to accident-damaged cars. We assess the value based on the parts we can salvage. Many customers find this the easiest option because we handle everything from recovery to payment.

The third option is scrap disposal. If the vehicle has reached the end of its life and has little parts value, we can arrange for it to be scrapped responsibly. We follow all UK regulations for waste vehicle disposal, including draining fluids and recycling materials. You will receive a certificate of destruction, which officially ends your responsibility for the vehicle.

You also have the option to have the vehicle collected by a third party. If your insurance company or another garage is handling the repair, we can hold the vehicle securely until they arrange collection. We do not charge excessive storage fees and we work with your chosen provider to make the transfer as smooth as possible.
